Aalborg University’s new M.Sc. programme in Robotics is an engineering programme targeted at B.Sc. graduates interested in robot programming, control systems and software.

Robotics is a cross-curricular master's programme which draws on a number of research environments gathered in the robot research programme, robotics.aau.dk. Students have access to advanced technologies and well-equipped laboratories, and they are taught by highly qualified and committed professors from across the university.

The Robotics educational programme equips you with the skills to tackle challenges in the utilisation of robots and automation, which companies, engineering consultants and service- and research institutes are facing.

You will learn about for example,

  • mobile robots and collaborative robots
  • the interaction between the various components of a robotic system
  • developing and testing robotics hardware and software and integrating them into a broader systems-oriented context

The two students,?Jevgenijs Galaktionovs and?Hugo Markoff have developed a robot that among others is able to take your temperature - a valuable weapon in the fight against Covid-19.

Half of your time is spent on project work in groups according to the?AAU Problem Based Learning-model. Apart from good cooperation skills, this will give you the ability to handle technical problem solving at a high level as well as the capacity to work with and manage all phases of a project. However, you are also trained to master development-, analysis- and service tasks on an independent level.

Because your profile is cross-curricular, you will be able to work across technical fields, which is a much sought-after competence by employers.

Academic content

The M.Sc. programme in Robotics at Aalborg University is comprised by four semesters where you work with gradually more complex subjects.

Compulsory for all non-AAU bachelors

All bachelors enrolled in the programme who have not obtained their bachelor's degree from Aalborg University must take part in a course on problem based learning (PBL) as part of the 1st semester project. In case non-AAU bachelors get credit transfer for the 1st semester, they will be asked to take part in a course ensuring that they are trained in working according to the PBL-model.?Read more about PBL here.

Traineeship

In the 3rd semester of the master’s programme in Robotics, you have the opportunity to go abroad or spend your semester in a company.

Aalborg University cooperates with a range of universities across the world and has well-established contacts in industry both in regards to student projects and company internships. The International Office at Aalborg University may assist you with guidance, but you must make your own preparations, incl. checking whether you need advanced credit transfer, looking for accommodation, checking up on insurance, visa and possible needed vaccinations, and, if relevant, how to avoid a lapse of your Danish residence permit.

Your Robotics profile qualifies you for jobs such as development- and service engineering, specialist and project manager in private companies and public organisations where knowledge of robots and/or automation is a central part of the job.
