How can sports communities have a positive impact on the well-being of refugees?

Research in 10 municipalities will shed light on the matter.

Better physical, mental and social well-being for children and young people with a refugee background. This is the aim of a project in which researchers from the research group Sport and Social Issues at the Faculty of Medicine participate. Volunteers from the Danish Refugee Council will bridge the gap between refugee families and local leisure communities and initiate activities with play, joy and movement.

The researchers will follow the project, contribute to learning along the way and write the final evaluation of the potentials and challenges of promoting refugees' participation in leisure activities and involvement in their own health promotion. The project will take place in 10 municipalities in Denmark from 2021 to 2023.
